Meet the Counselor
My name is Mrs. Heather Bornemeier. I am the 7-12 School Counselor and District Curriculum Coordinator for Elmwood-Murdock Public Schools. It is my goal to help every student achieve success!
A little bit about me.....I started my career in education at Elmwood-Murdock in 2008. I served as a paraprofessional for two years, taught 7-12 Language Arts for nine years, and am now in the counseling/curriculum role. Prior to my educational career, I served as a treatment group home case manager and unit supervisor as well as fulfilled the role of a child protection and safety worker for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (CPS).
I received my Bachelor's of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. I then received my teaching certificate in 7-12 English. Since, I have also earned my Master's of Educational Administration the area of Curriculum Supervision from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and am currently in pursuit of an additional degree in Secondary School Counseling.
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, watching my children's activities, reading books, running, and cooking. It is my personal and professional philosophy that kindness and hard work can make people highly successful. Thus, theoretically, I focus on a person-centered approach when working with my students and families. More specifically, I am interested in the Gestalt school of psychology as I am concerned with the "here an now" of my students' well-being and how I can best serve them in their element.
Being Your Best Knight

Be Your Best!
